I often get asked what all the different pieces involved in wedding stationery are, so I've put together a little glossary to help serve as a quick reference guide.
Engagement announcement: let’s your friends and family know that the question has been asked and that the answer was yes!
Save-the-date: let everyone know when the big day is going to be so they can make sure to mark it in their calendars. **Especially important if you are having a destination wedding and guests will have to book accommodations etc.
Bridal shower invitations: invites your friends and loved ones to celebrate your big day and upcoming nuptials.

Invitation: the who, the when, the where
RSVP: can they come? important to determine final number of
guests for food and booze - don’t want to come up short there!
Map/Directions card: to avoid the “how do we get there” emails and phone calls that you don’t have time for when preparing for your big day.
Additional information card: anything else guests should know - stuff to do in the area, if there is a “schedule of events” etc.

Program: itinerary to the day’s events and ceremony info
Menu: what’s for dinner? desert? to drink?
Escort cards: usually at the entrance to the reception and let
guests know which table they are sitting at.
Seating Chart: a diagram or list of tables that indicates where guests will be seated
Place Cards: where they sit at that table
Table Numbers: numbers, photos, sayings etc that identify which table is which
Favour Tags: personalize the small gifts and tokens of appreciation you are giving to your guests as they leave
Signage: use for directions, announcements or just fun notes
Decorations: paper can be used to decorate wedding days in many ways - from buntings, to flowers, to flags - the sky is the limit!

Thank-you Cards: thanks your guests for sharing in your day and for any gifts they may have given you (even if you plan on returning them!)

What do you think? Should anything else be added?
